Who we are
Kari Lim, CPA & Principal at Kari Lim Professional Corporation, brings deep expertise in financial statement reporting and technical accounting, with specialized knowledge spanning investment accounting, hedge accounting, derivatives, lease accounting, revenue recognition, and Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) Compliance.
At Google, she supported a very large-scale integration project when Mandiant, Inc., a leader in dynamic cyber defense and threat intelligence, was acquired for $5.4 billion in September of 2022. Throughout the following year Kari assisted the integration of Mandiant into Google Cloud by assisting with system implementation support and the automation of ASC 606 Revenue Recognition. Support tasks included business requirements documentation, system design reviews with engineers, data flow and interface design across Google’s internal system architecture, and User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
Kari also assisted Google with implementation of SAP Treasury for In-House-Banking (IHB) including documentation of processes and controls, assessment and mapping of risks to controls, and identification of areas to implement controls in new IHB processes.
At Waymo, an autonomous driving subsidiary of Google, she supported a new SAP system implementation project migrating their accounting system from Oracle to SAP. She also completed the month end close process post cutover to SAP and provided training on SAP functionality and In-House-Banking concepts.
During her tenure at Apple, she managed the full SOX Compliance cycle for their Real Estate and Development (RE&D) organization. Responsibilities included scoping and planning, process documentation, external auditor walk-throughs, controls testing coordination, results review, and reporting findings to the SOX Program Management Office (PMO). She managed the month-end-close process for reviewing worldwide lease agreements and ensured journal entries were in accordance with ASC 842 Lease Accounting standards.
At Deloitte, she continued building her expertise in accounting for investments and hedging strategies spanning multiple financial industry clients where she provided assurance and advisory services.
She began her career at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) in 1997, providing assurance and advisory services to clients in the financial services industry where she built specialized expertise in accounting and reporting of investments and derivative instruments. She obtained her CPA license in 2000 while at PwC.
Kari earned her Economics degree with honors from the University of California, San Diego.
